Those Familiar Expressions

We all grew up hearing certain expressions and admonishments. Are you surprised to hear yourself saying the things to your kids that your parents said to you?

"You're having fun now, but in a minute someone's going to get hurt."

"Don't make me come down there!"

"I knew of a girl who frowned like that, and her face froze that way."

We laugh when we remember our parents' expressions. They seemed so ineffectual at the time. And we never really believed our faces would freeze that way.

You don't really believe any of that silly old stuff, yet here you are telling your children if they wish on the first star they see, their wish will come true, or that if they put a slice of wedding cake under their pillow, they'll see their future spouse in their dreams.

Do you ever find your mother's sayings coming out of your own mouth? Are some of them expressions you vowed you'd never utter?

Put your feet up, pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea, and join the conversation.

Every year I buy more school supplies and art supplies for the teachers and they know they canRead More always count on me for more whenever needed. I'm a strong believer in encouraging children to be creative and get rid of the barriers to the freedom of self expression.

We help by asking teachers if they need anything. They'll drop hints and we'll go and purchase theRead More products. Most, if not all, parents are willing to help their children's classes if they are able to. It's really unfair for the teachers to purchase supplies out of their own pockets.
