South San Francisco June Death Notices: Sky Diver, Bonsai Gardener, etc.

See the list of people with ties to South San Francisco who passed away recently.

Don Buffington: A graduate of SSF High School in 1968, Buffington was a labor union rep, a gardener and a Giants fan. He passed away on June 21 at the age of 62.

Florence Cafferata: Raised on a farm in South City, Cafferata had 12 siblings and loved to travel, bowl, laugh, gamble and cook for her family. She passed away on June 8 at the age of 92.

George Poulo: A South San Francisco resident, Poulo had an engineering degree and served in the Army. He passed away on June 15 at the age of 88.

Bettylu Smith: This South SF resident battled cancer for a long time. She had two sons and a step-daughter. She passed away on June 17 at the age of 56.

Joseph Squires: Squires lived in South City and worked 33 years at Coast Wholesale Company. He was married for 40 years when his wife died in 1987. He passed away on June 20 at the age of 88.

Geraldine Tamburini: Gerry lived in SSF for 60 years. She was an organ teacher and had a skill for bonsai gardening. She passed away June 14 at the age of 80.

Eugene Taylor: Taylor was born in South San Francisco in 1924. He served in World War II and earned a Purple Heart. He loved sky diving, dancing and astronomy. He passed away June 13 at the age of 88.
