She attended the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland and the University of California at Berkeley. After graduation she married painter Alexander Nepote. Hanne-Lore was also an artist and exhibited in Bay Area museums and galleries. With the arrival of children her painting efforts slowed, although she supported her husband in his career and continued to be engaged in the art world.

Hanne-Lore was generous of spirit and felt at home by the sea and in the mountains. She viewed life from an aesthetic perspective and approached meal preparation as an art form. She later rekindled her career, making numerous liturgical banners for her church. She was also an exhibiting member of the Society of Layerist in Multiimedia, SLMM, a national organization that held exhibits both in this country and in Europe.
