Seniors Get Free Health Screenings from Kaiser Permanente SSF Physicians, Volunteers

San Mateo Co. seniors get free health screenings from Kaiser Permanente SSF physician and staff volunteers.

More than 500 seniors from throughout San Mateo County and other parts of the bay area were ready as the doors opened to attend the 16th annual health fair last Friday, March 15 in South San Francisco.  Kaiser Permanente and the City of South San Francisco teamed up once again as cosponsors of this event which provides health screenings, health education information and community resources.  Topics ranged from hearing tests to medication safety. Physical therapists were also on hand to give tips on stretching and flexibility techniques and provide each attendee with a resistance band.   Seniors remarked how enjoyable the experience was for the 3 hour event and left smiling with reusable bags full of samples and information. Among those also in attendance Friday were South San Francisco Mayor Pedro Gonzalez  and Sheila Fusaro, Assistant Medical Group Administrator at Kaiser Permanente South San Francisco, a newly elected member of the Chamber of Commerce.  "This senior health fair is such a rewarding experience for everyone involved, for those attending and all our volunteers, said Sheila Fusaro.  "It is events like this that supports Kaiser Permanente's mission of giving back to the communities we serve."
