Show Us Your Hero

In recognition of Veterans Day, Peninsula Patch sites want you to share a photo of your hero with the world.

Did you or a loved one serve or are serving our country?

If so, there have got to be some good photos and videos to show it. So, dig through that old shoebox; find that file folder or scroll through your profile pictures — they’re bound to be somewhere.

Surely, someone in plebe year or basic training took your picture looking stunning with standard-issue glasses.

Whether you passed through the academy before hitting the fleet, or relished hearing your father's stories about how cold that winter was in Germany, Patch wants to see your photos and videos, as well as hear your story.

Is there a photo showing you or a family member serving the veteran community? We want to see that, too.

Simply upload your photos clicking the “Submit Your Photos” button above the main image and we will feature it on Veterans Day.

Make sure to add a caption telling us about veteran and tell us that service member's story. You can also embed a YouTube video by pasting a link.

Thanks for the photo! You must be so proud of your grandpa.

I sure am. I remember being intimidated by him because he was very brusque. Then one day, I realized he was chuckling and had a smile in his eyes. After that, I stopped being so nervous around him. I felt very fortunate because I had some of the most amazing conversations with him. He was actually a super funny guy.

Dad was a sonar operator on a destroyer, eventually met my Mom at a USO dance. We all miss him!
