Crazyology: Art Exhibit by David Normal

Bay Area Artist David Normal is opening a solo show at an unlikely but fabulously huge San Francisco venue in January -- the atrium of the AMC Movie Theater on Van Ness. The show is titled "Crazyology" -- an apt name for Normal's provocative, sometimes profane and always impassioned work.

The central aspect of the show will be Normal's "Illuminations" installation, which are large glowing art works suspended 10 feet in the air, rotating freely in space and creating a  mobile of disembodied images floating in the darkness of the cathedral-like Victorian atrium.

The show will be a multi-sensory experience featuring an interactive sound-sculpture, the "Auraloscope" that uses motion detectors to trigger samples that are cycled through delays to create  sustained feedback loops that comprise an ever varying soundtrack to Normal's images.
