Ponderosa Elementary School Celebrates 50 Years

Principal Janet Ingesoll accepted a certificate of recognition for Ponderosa's commitment to educating South San Francisco youth.

The South San Francisco City Council Wednesday commemorated the 50th anniversary of with a certificate of recognition for the school’s commitment to young South San Franciscans.

Janet Ingersoll, principal of Ponderosa, accepted the certificate on behalf of the school that was founded in 1962.

The council also recognized Ingersoll’s extraordinary dedication to South City students.

“It’s unfortunate they can’t simply replicate Janet Ingersoll and her program,” Addiego said.

Ingersoll thanked the council for its recognition and applause from the audience.
