Key to Awesomeness: Katie’s love for architecture when she read Harry Potter and became intrigued by the description of the Hogwarts castle. She started taking apart her Lego version of Hogwarts and rebuilding it in her own design.

More recently, her interest in history has drawn her to historical architecture styles, including Victorian architecture and 18th century architecture. Partially inspired by the recent film “Marie Antoinette,” she decided to build a two-foot high replica of Antoinette’s lavish country house, Le Petite Trianon.

Katie’s blog documents her meticulous sketching, carving, sanding and struggles with color schemes. She raised $300 for her project by selling Christmas cookies and plans to travel to the original Versailles next year. Katie hopes to use her talents to professionally restore historical buildings one day.
