Unemployment: South City Stands at 10 Percent

The rate has hovered just above 10 percent thus far in 2011.

South San Francisco's unemployment rate was 10 percent in April, , according to data released Friday by the California Employment Development Department.

The city's unemployment has hovered just above 10 percent so far in 2011; January's unemployment rate was 10.3 percent, and February's was 10.1 percent. But the rate compares favorably to last year; in April of 2010, South San Francisco's unemployment rate was 10.9 percent.

San Mateo County's unemployment rate for March was 8.2 percent, and California's overall rate was 11.9 percent.
