New Go-Kart Center Open in South City

A national go-kart company has come to South San Francisco and will hold a grand opening event next week.

As of Sept. 19 South San Francisco now has its own K1 Speed go-kart center at Beacon St. off S. Airport Blvd.

"Business is doing great," said Andrew Palos of K1 Speed. "Our customers are coming up from San Jose and within The City to test out the new track."

The Beacon St. center has 52 karts and is the 12th location K1 Speed has opened in the U.S.

The company posts challenge results from various cities around the country, as well as dozens of top racing speeds for customers at the South City location.

Palos said that the center will soon have a Red Bull Formula car simulator up and running, which customers will be able to try out while waiting to get on the real track.

Thursday Oct. 25, K1 Speed will hold a grand opening celebration from 6 to 9 p.m. at the center with a DJ, food and racing.

According to the website, the karts are zero-emission vehicles. The venue includes a snack bar and private rooms for special events or business functions.

Customers who register their email address at the company's website will get ongoing monthly specials. This month, the center is offering 2 races for $25, which saves $15 from the regular price.

Kids and adults are both welcome, but are not allowed to race one another.

Every year I buy more school supplies and art supplies for the teachers and they know they canRead More always count on me for more whenever needed. I'm a strong believer in encouraging children to be creative and get rid of the barriers to the freedom of self expression.

We help by asking teachers if they need anything. They'll drop hints and we'll go and purchase theRead More products. Most, if not all, parents are willing to help their children's classes if they are able to. It's really unfair for the teachers to purchase supplies out of their own pockets.
