Easter Deals: Ready for Some Ham and Eggs?

Our local bargain hunter hit the South City streets to track down the best deals on Easter Sunday necessities.

No, it’s not time to read a rhyming storybook to the kids, it’s time to shop for Easter Sunday festivities. To make sure you get the best deal, we shopped all over South City to compare prices on everyone’s favorites, from spiral hams to chicken eggs and all the fun treats to go along with this weekend’s holiday.

At and this week, special Easter sales are going on for all your necessities up through Sunday April 24. Be sure to check last Sunday's paper and weekly mailers for special coupons.

  • One of the coupons to look for will get you 18 grade AA large eggs for $1.99.
  • Lots of different ham choices are available at Safeway and Pak N Save this week: Safeway Select spiral cut half hams are $2.61 per pound, Safeway Select whole boneless hams are $2.99 per pound, Safeway smoked bone-in whole or shank half hams are $0.99 per pound, and Safeway spiral sliced bone-in whole or half hams are $1.99 per pound.
  • PAAS deluxe egg dye kits are $2.50 each to color all your hard boiled eggs for Easter egg hunts.
  • Large plastic Easter filler eggs are $0.99 for packs of five.
  • 12-packs of chick or bunny Peeps are on sale for $1.25.
  • Packages of four Cadbury creme eggs are on sale for $2.50.

At this week you’ll find spiral hams aplenty plus lots of unique desserts scattered throughout the store.

  • Kirkland Signature carando spiral hams are $2.35 per pound and Kirkland Signature applewood smoked hams are $2.79 per pound.
  • Seattle Chocolate has pretty packages of two chocolate bunnies for $7.99.
  • Gianna’s all natural Easter sugar cookies come in cute shapes like Easter eggs and carrots and will run you $9.99 for 1.75 pounds of cookies.
  • An eight oz. decorated large milk chocolate egg is $6.99 and a pretty way to decorate your dinner table with an edible treat.
  • Cal Eggs packs of 24 grade AA extra large eggs are $3.19, and Cal Eggs five-dozen packs of grade AA slightly smaller large eggs are $7.29.

Best Deal: The best deal this week on your Easter ham is at  or with their smoked bone-in whole or shank half hams at just $0.99 per pound. For eggs, your best bet will also be at if you can hunt down their coupon for 18 large Lucerne eggs for $1.99 making each egg about $0.11. If you can’t find it, dozen eggs for $1.49 as well as 5 dozen packs are still good deals with each egg costing about $0.12. For dessert, that all depends on what your sweet tooth tells you – Seattle Chocolates were pretty tasty, I must say. But maybe your family prefers Peeps or carrot cake? This one is your call.
