Last Minute V-Day Plans: Must-See Movies and TV Shows Available on Instant Netflix

Haven't made Valentine's Day plans yet? Not eager to go out in the rain? Here are a few movies you can watch instantly via Netflix's popular streaming service. Grab some takeout, settle in with your favorite PJs and embrace Hollywood's version of love at its finest in these films.

1. Pride & Prejudice: Because who wasn’t in love with Mr. Darcy when they were growing up? It’s a classic that has had millions of girls wishing they could find their “Mr. Darcy” someday. (The three-hour Colin Firth version is still number one in my books, and is avaliable to view instantly on Netflix.)
2. Sleepless in Seattle: Throw reality out the window and never give up on love. Though they don’t actually meet till the last five minutes of the movie, the 100 minute build-up is worth the wait. It’s also a modern reference to an equally sappy romance An Affair to Remember. 
3. Up: I know a Pixar kids flick may not sound romantic, but the story of Carl and Ellie makes me sob big fat crocodile tears. The video montage of their lifelong marriage is beyond adorable. Check out a preview in this You Tube video, and I defy you not to cry while watching this movie tonight.
4. Sweet Home Alabama: This Reese Witherspoon movie about a Alabama bred girl who, having made it big as a fashion designer in NYC, is forced to return home to deal with her Southern past is my absolute favorite chick flick. The film shows Southern people at their finest --- kind, warm and yes, full of personality. Bonus? Another Instant Netflix favorite, Grey's Anatomy's Patrick Dempsey stars as Melanie's fiancee.
5. Zombieland: Not in the mood for love? Perhaps some you need some braiiinnnsss. Check outAcademy Award nominee Jesse Eisenberg in Zombieland before he became Mark Zuckerberg. According to Netflix, Eisenberg plays an easily spooked guy, Columbus, who joins forces with wild man Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) to fight for survival in a world virtually taken over by freakish zombies. They meet up with two other survivors, Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) and Wichita (Emma Stone), and journey to a supposedly safe abandoned amusement park.

1. 30 Rock's Season One Valentine's Day episode, "Up All Night": Tonight, I'll be settling in to watch this episode of my favorite TV show. (Major girl crush on Tina Fey. ) The episode focuses on the events of Valentine's Day for the cast and crew of TGS, and involves a game of "Marry, Boff, Kill," a Russian prostitute played by Rachel Dratch, a flower delivery mix up and some crazy role playing by Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan) and his sassy wife Angie (Sherri Shepard). Tina Fey, will you be my Valentine?
2. Dexter: A few years ago, I spent a post-breakup Valentine's Day watching Showtime's drama about a serial killer for well, more than a few hours. If you're feeling down on love, Dexter Morgan's sardonic, sexy serial killer may be just the man you're looking for. Watch as Dexter tries to maneuver through "normal" life while discovering that he may care about those around him more than he realizes. 
3. The Tudors: Sure, it's not entirely historically accurate. But with sexy Jonathan Rhys-Meyersas King Henry VIII seducing every woman at court with his charm, who needs history? 
4. Friday Night Lights: This little known show about a high school football team in East Texas is one of my all time favorites. Aside from hot football players (helloooo, Tim Riggins), the most endearing part of the show is the marriage between Coach Eric Taylor and his wife, Tami. Rather than play into the classic stereotypes of burly coach/feisty wife, their marriage is a true balancing act of equals. Tammy works to manage both her roles as coach's wife and school counselor. Eric wholeheartedly supports his wife's independence and career, even going so far as to put her goals first when necessary. To me, there's something wonderful about seeing the dynamic between these two and I adore their truely modern marriage. 
5. Coupling: Often called the British version of Friends, this BBC comedy "captures six friends at various stages of relationships in hilarious and often embarrassing situations." It's one of those shows that captures the differences between men and women humorously, and the charecter's "inner monologues" are hilarious.
