Street Festival and Flea Market This Weekend

Where/When: Grand Avenue between Walnut and Linden, South San Francisco on May 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why Go: 

 Streets Alive 2011 is a coordinated effort among cities across San Mateo County to close streets and open up public places for exercise, dancing, strolling, cycling, picnicking and play. In South San Francisco, Grand Avenue will be closed to vehicles between Walnut Avenue and Linden Avenue. Activities will be offered including Zumba Dance/Exercise, Tai Chi, Hawaiian Dance, Bollywood Dance/Fitness, Fit Walk/Art Talk, Martial Arts, a children’s area and more.

Where/When: , 1651 Coyote Point Dr, San Mateo on May 1 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go: Free admission the first Sunday of every month at Coyote Point Museum. Parking is $5.

Why Go: Mother's Day is just around the corner! Don't miss the Serra Mother's Day Boutique from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. on May 1 in the Serra cafeteria. There will be a variety of vendors selling jewelry, purses, topiaries, crosses, collectibles and much more. Come and shop for your Mother's Day gifts and treat yourself to something special. We encourage you to support these local vendors and shop 'til you drop!

Why Go: With Guidance from the instructor, students will learn to play the ukulele in a fun group environment. The small group setting ensures students receiving individual attention. Class will cover how to read music, basic ukulele technique, rhythm, easy songs and chords.

Where/When: 400 San Mateo Ave, San Bruno on May 1 on 10 a.m.–2 p.m.

Why Go: The downtown farmers market, sponsored by the San Bruno Chamber of Commerce, is back for a third year. It will take place every Sunday beginning May 1 and continuring through Sept. 25. New this year, the chamber will be providing more Sunday activities that will be held in conjunction with the weekly event.

Where/When: 1801 J Hart Clinton Dr, San Mateo (Bay Trail Clean-up, Meeting at Ryder Court Park) on  April 30, 2011 from  9 a.m.–12 p.m.

Why Go: The Second Annual Mormon Helping Hands Day of Service will be held throughout California on April 30th, 2011.  Local members of the Mormon Church will gather to clean Coyote Point and the Bay Trail in San Mateo County.  Other community service projects will simultaneously be taking place throughout the state of California.

Where/When: 219 Verano Dr, South San Francisco on April 30 from 8:30 a.m.–2 p.m.
