This Weekend: So Many 'Fests,' So Little Time

There are festivals, fleets, flyovers and fairs galore this weekend.

There's really no need to leave the Peninsula this weekend---between the San Carlos Art & Wine Faire (Sat/Sun) the Chocolate Fest at the Congregational Church of Belmont (Fri/Sat) and Oktoberfest at the Hiller Aviation Museum (Fri.), there are more than enough activities to keep anyone from staying home to sort socks.

SAN CARLOS ART & WINE FESTIVAL

When: This Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 6-7, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Find out what's happening in South San Franciscowith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Where: Street from San Carlos Avenue to Arroyo

What: One of the very last art and wine festivals of the season, this festival has been going strong for 22 years now. It features all the usual attractions you love in an art and wine festival - good food and drinks, talented arts and crafts vendors, a Family Fun Zone for the kids, and live musical acts and performers. Uniquely, it also features a classic car/hot rod show, and serves up an array of beverages such as microbrews and mimosas in addition to locally-made wine.

If that's not enough, then the National League West Champion San Francisco Giants will face the red-hot Cincinnati Reds in the National League Division Series Saturday and Sunday at AT&T Park. Let's hope the Giants don't mind playing with the sonic boom overhead of of the Blue Angels in celebration of Fleet Week, and, oh, yes, the America's Cup World Series regatta on the bay. Add to that some Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in Golden Gate Park, Justin Bieber at Oracle Arena, and did we mention the 49ers are in town on Sunday vs. the Buffalo Bills?

Heading down the Peninsula, Stanford will play Arizona, the Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon will take place in San Jose, Florence and the Machine will play at Shoreline Amphitheater on Friday, and Madonna will stop in to San Jose for two concerts at HP Pavilion. Did we miss anything?
