Why Go: Please Join us for an expanded evening of music featuring an eclectic mix of musical styles all set in a coffee house setting. Enjoy the talents of Bob Mannion, Nancy Colman and Alex Reisman as they play their mix of folk, jazz and blues. Michael McMorrow will heat up the room with his Latin guitar and steel drum performance. Let the San Mateo County Golden Chordsmen take you on a trip down memory lane with their barbershop harmonies.

Why Go: The Kiwanis Club of South San Francisco would like to invite you to its Hawaiian Night Dinner & Dance Fundraiser on Saturday, May 14th at the SSF Scavenger Co. The event will include a silent auction, raffle prizes, Hawaiian entertainment, DJ dancing and dinner…it’s a fun evening and sharing of the “Aloha Spirit” for all who attend.

Why Go: El Camino High School has long had the reputation of being not only an academic leader in education and the most spirited school, but also a school with a great dance and music program. People wait all year long for the greatest show in the area, and it's the El Camino Dance Show.

Why Go: The Friends Helping Friends Committee at St. Robert's is putting together a pasta dinner fundraiser for 6-year-old Cole Baker, who has stage-4 cancer and is receiving ongoing chemo treatments, to help with the almost $30,000 extra dollars needed to help with medical bills. The Friends Helping Friends Committee is a a community group that helps raise funds for people in our community who are battling an illness.

Where/When: , 100 Skycrest Shopping Ctr, San Bruno from 4–7 p.m. on May 13.

Why Go: Sample the wines of Caymus from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lundardi's Market. The $2 participation fee will be applied to the purchase price of any bottle of wine. Specially marked wines will be available at 10 percent off the purchase price. Saturday, the twice-weekly event will feature the wines of Italy.

Why Go: The 7th Annual Redwood City Poker Run motorcycle ride is a exciting fundraiser benefitting the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Activities League, Redwood City Police Activities League, and Redwood City After School Sports. This year’s Poker Run will be held on Saturday, May 14th, 2011 starting at Dudley Perkins (333 Corey Way, South San Francisco.)

Why Go: Discover a San Mateo County Park near you! Learn about the history of Junipero Serra Park as staff and volunteers guide you along picturesque trails. Participants receive a free t-shirt and other goodies. Walk begins at 9:00 a.m. in the main parking lot.

Where/When: , 1501 Magnolia Ave, San Bruno on May 14 from 12–2 p.m.

Why Go: Capuchino High School's Leadership Class will be collaborating with Bay Shred to provide the community with a paper shredding opportunity!

Pricing: $10 per box


Where/When: 480 San Anselmo Ave N, San Bruno (Corner of Sylvan & Mastick) on May 14, 2011 from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.

Why Go: St. John's United Church's Women's Guild will host a Victorian Tea on Saturday May 14 at 11:30 am at the church.  A variety of teas, tea sandwiches and cakes will be served.

Where/When: Orange Ave & Tennis Dr, South San Francisco at 9:00 a.m. on May 14.

Why Go: The South San Francisco Farmers' Market re-opened on Saturday, May 7th from 9am to 1pm at Orange Memorial Park. The Market will open every Saturday from May 7th through October 29th.
