9/11 To Be Remembered On The Peninsula

Patch cities throughout San Mateo County will commemorate the ten year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks this weekend. Here's a rundown of events occurring in your area. Links to give you specific information can be found by clicking on the town name:

San Mateo County public safety officers will honor their fallen members at a morning service. All faiths are welcome. A reception will follow.

Burlingame:

The town plans to place flags up and down Burlingame Avenue Saturday and Sunday.

Officials will host a ceremony to honor those who died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks, lowering a flag from full staff and raised to half-staff at 8:46 a.m., about the time that the first plane hit the World Trade Center in New York in 2001.

Half Moon Bay:

"Aftermath": An exhibit by the Peninsula Women's Caucus for Art, featuring works ranging from deeply personal to broadly political; through Oct. 3, Coastal Arts League Museum and Gallery, 300 Main St., Half Moon Bay. Peninsula:

SamTrans and Caltrain will join transit agencies across the United States in a “Moment of Remembrance” on September 11 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 911 terrorist attacks. At 10:00 a.m., all SamTrans buses will stop at the closest bus stop and all Caltrain trains in operation will stop at the closest station to mark the historic event. Announcements will be made to passengers and a message will be displayed on the visual message signs at all Caltrain stations.

The city commemorates the 9/11 anniversary with several events on Saturday and Sunday, including a memorial stair climb and remembrance services.

Hundreds of girls from across Northern California will head to San Mateo for the Mikhail's Navy Competition on Sunday; athletes will pay tribute to those affected by the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

St Elizabeths Episcopal Church hosts a labyrinth walk in remembrance of those who died on 9/11 and for those who suffer the aftermath of that day.
