California Rangeland Trust Receives 5% of Sales at Whole Foods Market Stores on Wednesday, September 25

Shopping at Northern California and Reno Whole Foods Market stores protects land where food grows and animals graze

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Sept. 16, 2013) – Shopping at all Northern California and Reno Whole Foods Market stores on Wednesday, Sept. 25 will help protect ranchlands where food grows and animals roam freely through the California Rangeland Trust.

Whole Foods Market is donating five percent of net sales that day to the Rangeland Trust to conserve California ranches that provide healthy food, clean water and air, abundant wildlife and western culture.

Shoppers can also support the Rangeland Trust by purchasing products from one of Whole Foods Market’s ranching partners, Panorama Organic Grass-Fed Meats.

“Virtually all water consumed by Californians runs over ranches, so it’s important to preserve these lands,” said Nita Vail, CEO of the Rangeland Trust. ”Plus, 95 percent of federally endangered and threatened species live on private ranchlands and depend on them for their habitat. This donation from Whole Foods Market will help us conserve agricultural open space now and in the future.”

Participating San Franciso area stores include Potrero Hills, Franklin, Noe Valley, Haight, Ocean, and SoMa.
