Padreddii Runs For Harbor Commission Reelection

A long-time South City public servant runs once more for harbor commissioner.

Leo Padreddii of South San Francisco has been a San Mateo County Harbor Commissioner for 12 years, and is running for reelection this fall.

After several decades in public service, Padreddii calls it "a way of life."

Recent projects he has been involved in include the new, and what he said is the first dinner cruise boat permit to be granted in the district, which was approved last month.

This November, six candidates vie for three spots on the Harbor Commission: Padreddii, Will Holsinger, Brandon Kwan, Pietro Parravano, Sabrina Brennan, and Neil Merrilees.

Below is Padreddii's official candidacy statement:

I am currently Vice President and served in each office of the San Mateo County Harbor District. During my incumbancy, the Harbor District has been one of the few Government Districts with a balanced budget as well as surplus funds with no cuts to services.

I have been co-chairman of the task force which has now begun ferry service between San Mateo County (Oyster Point Marina) and Alameda County. The Commission is working together on significant projects at both Oyster Point Marina in SSF and Pillar Point Harbor on the coast. I look forward to continuing this work by following through on these important projects.

As part of my resume in community service, I have 32 years City and State Law Enforcement experience, including FBI training at the CHP Academy. I am a former Mayor of South San Francisco. I also served on the South San Francisco Board for 9 years as well as on the San Mateo county Fair Board for 12 years.

I would be grateful for your vote re-electing me Commissioner to San Mateo County Harbor District.

Padreddii told Patch that if he is reelected in November, it will likely be his last run. He said he would be ready for retirement after one more four-year term.

Also this November two South San Francisco Unified School District board members will run for reelection unopposed: Maurice Goodman and Judy Bush.

If City Councilmember Kevin Mullin succeeds in his run for District 22 State Assembly this fall, the council will have the opportunity to either appoint a new member to finish Mullin's term, appoint an interim member, or hold a special election.
